Throughout Cheryl’s career she has worked together with a range of professionals and supported babies, children, young people and their families in a range of settings. This has also included being a personal assistant for a special needs adult, with a range of complex special needs.
In 2006 Cheryl moved into the area of child protection and was employed by Wigan Local Authority being responsible for up to 30 schools in the area. Cheryl, through consultations, provided support, knowledge and guidance on how to promote effective safeguarding and child protection for children and young people. This role also included safer working practice, information and advice for ‘whistleblowing’ so the team understands the importance of their roles and duty to reduce the likelihood of mistakes and unsafe practices which can lead to complaints and allegations.
She was promoted in 2011 with a new position in the newly established Gateway Team to work more directly with the families in specific local areas (Leigh, Lowton and Golborne) to provide advice guidance and implementation of early help/intervention CAF and work with other agencies to promote and support integrated working and services.

Glen is a qualified Practising Counsellor to Diploma level. She has worked within the Private, Public and Voluntary sector for over 20 years. Glen specialises in working with children, young people and their families to address issues relating to Mental Health and emotional difficulties.
With a Certificate in Education and TDLB qualification; she has moderated courses for MOCN and developed training courses along with the programme manager.
Glen has worked within St Helens Youth Service, delivering accredited training and personal development programmes to adults and young people. These included a variety of courses and she also set up and delivered a very successful Counselling Provision for the Youth Service.
During her eight years working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services NHS, Glen has delivered training to a variety of professionals including junior doctors, students at JMU and Edge Hill around Mental Health, Self-Harm and Suicidal Ideation.
Glen currently delivers Safeguarding Children Training to several schools and agencies in Wigan as an associate trainer, as well as working with Bolton Council Children’s Services dealing with young people aged 8-18 years regarding behavioural/emotional difficulties that may impact on criminal behaviour and to address the possible consequences. This work includes collaboration with their families along with the Youth Justice Service, education, Social Care, Health and CAMHS.

Sharon has worked at a variety of levels, beginning her career as a nursery nurse, moving to Pre-five Senior, Deputy Head and for 16 years successfully undertook several Head of Centre posts, leading services through significant periods of change. Sharon has extensive experience in relation to Additional Support for Learning, having successfully led a large early years provision which effectively supported children with additional support needs, including the leadership of a specialist integrated unit.

Alison is registered with The HCPC and is a qualified social worker; who has worked in the child protection field which has given her an extensive knowledge of current child care legislation; and the experience of working directly with children and their families. She is highly experienced in carrying out both Initial and Core
Assessments; preparing reports and giving evidence to the Family courts.
Alison has run her own training company since 2002 delivering training contracts on behalf of a number of Local Authorities.
